Assessment
In addition to all class teachers assessing the children in their class, to inform their planning and manage curriculum coverage, our devoted subject leaders oversee the delivery of their subject across the school.
Children's progress is assessed, tracked and recorded using three systems. For all EYFS, Reading, Writing, Maths and Science in KS1 we use Jason Hurr Tracking system. Teachers assess the children against the taught curriculum objectives, skills progression components, 'sticky knowledge' and record their judgements. These are discussed at Pupil Progress meetings, where future plans are made to support and challenge children. The Head, Class Teachers and SENCO attend these meetings.
For the wider curriculum, we assess against the National curriculum objectives, skills progression components and sticky knowledge for each subject that has been taught that term. Assessments are made throughout the term and are finalised at the end of each term. 'Check-it's' are used to inform assessments throughout learning, as are 'Managing Misconceptions' when needed. Examples of these can be seen below. Often a subject is taught in a continuous block of learning, to enable children to delve deeper into a subject and broaden their knowledge through unbroken learning. These final assessments would be made at the end of the block. Sticky Knowledge is revisited throughout the term using Sticky Knowledge Organisers. Children use their Long-term Memory Scrapbooks to record their 'sticky knowledge' independent learning and discuss what they have learnt with their peers and teacher. Books Looks , pupil chats and mini-quiz assessments contribute to assessment judgements.

Subject Leadership and Monitoring
Subject Leaders monitor their subject through our new two yearly system.
1. Planning and Book Look Check - (Teaching Staff collaboration with subject lead managing)
2. Peer Support Lesson , including book drop-in and in class pupil chat. (Subject Lead release time)
3. Formal Book Look and Pupil Learning Conference - (Subject Lead release time)
4. Termly Wider Curriculum Progress check - (Teaching Staff collaboration with subject lead managing)
At each check, there is a specific focus for monitoring; curriculum coverage is checked, subject specific class data is analysed for the class and for groups, development suggestions made and the focus for the next monitoring is shared.
This enables the subject lead to have a good understanding of their subject across the school.
At every staff meeting, we have a 'Rapid Review' section, where one subject or focused element is reviewed together weekly and suggestions for improvement made.
Staff monitor content, presentation, assessment and feedback and agreed expectations for English, Maths and one other subject in children's books..
Each year subject leads write Action Plans to develop their subject, following and through, their monitoring. These are live documents and are reviewed and updated throughout the year. These are shared with staff and governors to ensure all know the focus for development.
